Astha Parmar

Founder & Principal

Astha Parmar has over a decade of experience helping organizations design innovative people practices. She has deep expertise in key HR and Talent verticals: Organizational Design, Learning & Development, International HR Leadership, Process Automation and Improvement.

As the Founder and Principal at Inspri.co, she partners with purpose-driven organizations to clarify their talent strategy, create talent solutions, build organizational capability, and automate HR processes. In this role, she has worked with a range of international non-profits, including the Congressional Hunger Center, Trees for the Future, and Humentum (previously Lingos).

Astha is an adjunct Professor at Seattle Pacific University where she teaches a seminar class on 'Design Thinking and HR' to masters and PhD students.

Prior to Inspri, Astha led the Global Talent & HR Function at Grameen Foundation — delivering HR solutions across Africa, Latin America, and Asia. She has also worked in the finance sector in the US, and consulted for various service-sector organizations in India.

Astha has a Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Seattle Pacific University, and a Masters in Organizational Behavior from Delhi University.

Stuff not in the Bio

My passion is working with purpose-driven organizations.

I grew up in a (then small) beautiful valley town in India. My parents placed an emphasis on volunteering as a way to work on ourselves and doing work we love. Both those things left an impression.

I Believe

Empathy is powerful
Every person should be treated with the deepest respect. Our empathy, compassion, and curiosity bring out the best in us. When orgs have these qualities, we can innovate and solve the toughest challenges.
Reality is messy. Embrace it.
Formulas don't deliver. Reality is complicated and nuanced – and context changes everything. To get to solutions that are simple and effective we have to do the hard work of embracing tensions, seeking understanding, and changing our behaviors.
Take on the hard stuff
While we may never truly fix the entrenched challenges that affect children, women, communities, and ecosystems around the world -- we can certainly make a dent. And we are better for the endeavor.
Work Life =
Work is about finding purpose, meaning, and joy (or at least it should be). And to do this in a way that is sustainable we need to recharge, connect with people we love, care for our families when they need us, and find time to reflect and discover new ideas.
When I'm not working – I am busy chasing my toddler, entertaining my quirky 9 year old lab, reading geeky research articles, drawing, traveling, and watching stand-up with my husband.

"Astha equipped my team with a new way of seeing problems as opportunities.  She made 'change' something folks no longer fear but embrace.  By helping us truly understand the root causes of our problems, she helped us solve them in a more efficient way.  As a result, my fellowship participants and employees are more satisfied."

Shannon Maynard, ED, Congressional Hunger Center

"Astha combines the best traits of an effective HR leader. She is able to be both strategic and tactical. She is creative and logical. She is compassionate and great at analyzing data. Ultimately she is an authentic leader who is committed to ensuring that an organization effectively meets the needs of its employees."

Joshua Tripp, Director of Operations, Social Innovation at PayPal

"Astha is a top-flight HR professional, with excellent ability to continuously improve HR operations while advancing the development of staff. But more than that, she is able to develop a deep understanding of the whole business and how her work can drive it forward."

Steve Andersen, Philanthropy Practice Director at Exponent Partners
